Dragging your mouse to select text can be slow and fiddly, especially in long documents. Word has some simple keyboard and mouse shortcuts that make selecting text much faster and more precise.
Here’s how they work:
- Select a word
Double-click on a word. - Select a sentence
Hold Ctrl and click anywhere in the sentence. - Select a paragraph
Triple-click anywhere in the paragraph.
You can also combine this with the keyboard:
- Click at the start of some text, hold Shift, then click somewhere else to select everything in between.
These shortcuts are perfect for quickly copying, formatting, or deleting text - and once you start using them, you’ll never go back to dragging the mouse line by line.
