Preview your slideshow from the current slide

When you’re working on a presentation, it can be frustrating to keep starting the slideshow from the very first slide just to see how a single slide looks. PowerPoint has a quick shortcut that saves time and makes checking your work much easier.

Press Shift + F5 to start the slideshow from the slide you’re currently editing. PowerPoint will open the slideshow at that exact slide, so you can see animations, transitions, and layouts in context without scrolling through the entire deck.

This works for any slide, and it’s perfect for:

  • Checking animations or transitions on a single slide
  • Reviewing new content without losing your place
  • Quickly previewing changes to images, text, or charts

Using this shortcut can save you minutes every time you review or polish your slides - and it keeps your workflow much smoother.
